Getting Rid Of Excess Skin After Weight Loss

A majority of people love food.  However, some people love it too much they forget to take them in acceptable amounts.  The result is the much-talked about obesity that is getting common these days.  How would it not be?  Almost all types of food are processed and preserved with fat and certain chemicals.  Luckily, there are obese people who manage to lose weight and get back in shape.  However, it is not as easy as it sounds.  Losing weight requires hard work and total determination.  Once you are back in shape, there is still one thing you should deal with: excess skin after weight loss.  Weight loss does not happen overnight, and it goes the same for excess skin.  Fortunately, there are options you could check out to help you get rid of it.

Before you get out in search of a surgeon who could chop off the excess skin you have under your clothes, sit down and think about it first.  Remember that when you tried hard to lose weight, it did not happen in a short span of time.  Some people have to go through years of balancing their diets and working out until their sweaty bodies soak their workout clothes.  Doctors advise patients to wait it out and exhaust all natural options first.  Skin is elastic but if it has been stretched for a long time, it would not easily get back into shape.  It is, of course, shrinking back to its original state but it does it slowly.  Give it about 2 years to shrink.  It should be tight and taut again but if the remaining excess is still too much, then you can start considering surgery.

There are natural ways to tighten excess skin after weight loss.  Treat yourself to a warm bath that lasts for an hour.  You can add pure sea salt in the water and soak in it.  This is done in spas and it is said to help remove toxins in the body which, in turn, helps improve skin tone.  Use a moisturizing soap while exfoliating with a bath sponge to remove dead skin cells that might have accumulated on the skin causing it to shrink back slowly.  After the bath, remember not to rub your body dry with a towel.  The recommended method of drying yourself is patting your body dry.  This makes it possible for moisture to seep into your skin pores.  Besides, rubbing only makes your skin stretch even more.

Moisturizing lotions or creams are also helpful in getting rid of excess skin after weight loss.  After your bath and after every shower, apply lotion all over your body especially on those parts with excess skin.  Gently massage it into your skin to make sure you get the optimum moisture that the lotion offers.  Massaging it will also encourage blood circulation which would make your skin repair faster.  Choose lotions that contain aloe vera, soy protein, or yeast extracts as these are beneficial in improving skin elasticity and helps your body produce much-needed collagen to tighten the skin.
